Farewell Coach Mike

When asking our members for their favorite story about Coach Mike most of them paused, laughed, and then went on to tell stories about his obsession with Lululemon, snatching, his struggles with remembering to keep his shirt on, his sweet dance moves, and how his class will always be one of their favorite.

Mike has been a core member of our coaching staff for almost 3 years and will be leaving a huge hole in our hearts as he leaves for grad school next month. While it is true that Mike owns more Lulu than the rest of the coaches combined it’s only because he knows the importance of looking good while lifting.

As coaches, we will all miss having Mike’s Olympic Lifting expertise to turn to when we need better drills or help fixing our own lifts and his ability to keep the integrity of a workout even when he is tired and his ability to cheer on the rest of us after he is finished. We will also miss the unfiltered jokes, making fun of him for liking to work out in silence and just listen to the sound of his breath and the weights (it’s TRUE!), and his honest, caring advice that he has given to new coaches. Mike likes to give the appearance of being a cool guy, but we all know the real Mike. He’s always down for BBQ or Tacos post-WOD as long as the dress code is Lululemon, he is a caring and dedicated coach, and an honest and hard working guy. We wish you nothing but the best in school and your future endeavors. Keep coaching, keep working, keep being cool.

Partner 1- Runs 400 M
Partner 2- 3 Snatches 135/95
5 HSPU
7 Back Squats 135/95 (from the ground)
9 Chest 2 Bar Pull-ups
Partner 1 picks up where partner 2 left off and partner 2 takes off on a 400 M run.
*Count your total number of rounds between both people*

Finisher- (optional for everyone except Mike)
30 Muscle-ups for time
-or-
Muscle up practice- cheering on Coach Mike while he does his 30 Muscle ups for time.
