160126 Diabetes or Not

Athletes,

I am far from the healthiest of people. I consume my share of alcohol on the weekends, probably partake in a little sugar every now and then, and have a hard time prioritizing food prep. I know all this and take it into consideration when making food choices at the store and at restaurants. Meats and Veggies, seeds and nuts, some fruit, little starch and no sugar.

These basic food stuffs should be ingrained in our children. The jury is not out on nutrition. Sure we are still learning much but we need to take a general stand when it comes to this. From Cheerios to frosted flakes they are all basically the same when digested and hold little nutritional value. For the 25 and up crowd we have had a basic conditioning with the food pyramid. Ya know, the one that suggested 10-12 servings of grains as the basis for a proper diet? We need to have this conversation. Metabolic derangement and coronary heart disease may have a genetic predisposition in you but these things can be avoided or they can be fed.

My mother has a thyroid condition and a bad back. Because of this combo she has gained a lot of weight. She now has sleep apnea and heart conditions and she’s not old. The oddity in this is her doctor put her on a Ketosis Diet. Which is basically Meats and Veggies, seeds and nuts, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Percentages of the macro-nutrients are measured but it is the same. If this is what is used to stop or reverse metabolic derangement then on the other side of this scale could be the opposite. Increasing lifespan, decreasing diabetes, dementia, and coronary heart disease.

Our children will be the first to live fewer years than we will. That is not because they are lazy. Fact of the matter, as stated in this video, is we are giving them a slow poison. Dosage over time.

Take a moment and watch the video below.
